Our story
Recipes handed down.
A table always set.
Lisa's Soul Food Cafe started the way the best kitchens do — with family recipes, a hot stove, and a neighborhood that showed up hungry. In Red Bird, southern Dallas, we've been cooking the soul food folks grew up on and can't get anywhere else.
How we cook
Everything is made from scratch, every day. The chicken is hand-battered and fried to order. The greens simmer low and slow. The mac & cheese gets baked until the top goes golden. Nothing sits under a heat lamp waiting on you — we cook it when you order it, the way it's supposed to be done.
We cook the way our families cooked: seasoned right, portions generous, and a plate that fills you up and feels like home. It's the food people request for Sunday dinner, for a repast, for a celebration — the kind of cooking that means somebody in the back put real time and care into it.
And because this is our neighborhood too, our name rides on every plate that leaves the kitchen. That's not a slogan — it's the whole reason folks keep coming back and bringing their people with them.
Made from scratch
No shortcuts, no freezer bags. Real cooking, seasoned by hand, every single day.
Generous plates
You leave full and satisfied. Every plate comes with cornbread and two hearty sides.

The promise
“If it wouldn't make it to our own Sunday table, it doesn't make it onto your plate.”
